Ninth reflection

Week 13:“Select one learning objective or one component of a learning objective. When, where, and how have you learned it? How have you developed in this arena?”

The learning goal is effective communication skills. Throughout my education and career, I have continued to develop my communication skills. My formal education, including high school and college, provided a foundation for written and oral communication. Essay assignments, presentations, and group projects helped me improve my ability to express my ideas clearly. I further honed my communication skills in a work environment. Regular project discussions and interactions with colleagues and superiors allow me to practice expressing ideas succinctly and adapt my communication style to different audiences.

Regarding communication, I believe it is crucial to actively participate in written and oral conversations. Seeking feedback from peers and mentors helped me identify areas for improvement. Regularly reading books, articles, and observing effective communicators, whether in person or through various media, allowed me to learn different styles and techniques. And taking the time to reflect on your communication experiences, identify challenges, and set goals for improvement is an ongoing process.

Through constant practice and study, I grew more confident in expressing my ideas. I prefer to present and handle challenging discussions in front of an audience. I learned to tailor my communication to the needs of the context and audience. Whether it’s a formal report, a casual conversation, or a presentation, I can tailor my approach accordingly. Understanding the importance of empathy in communication is a significant development. Being able to see situations from another person’s perspective improves collaboration and relationship building. Recognizing that communication is a skill that can be continually refined, I remain open to learning from experience, feedback, and new insights.
